Rock and Worship Roadshow

We’re heading down to US Airways Center in Phoenix on Friday, March 11th to go to the Rock and Worship Roadshow.  Last year it was a blast!  We’re leaving the church at 4:00pm and returning at midnight.  Please fill out and have your parents sign the permission slip located to the left and give it to Justin before you leave.  Performers this year include Mercy Me, Jars of Clay, Thousand Foot Crutch, Matt Maher, LeCrae and The Afters.  Tickets are $10 at the door and you’ll need to bring money for food, t-shirts, etc.

What’s Happening

We had a great time celebrating the new year with First Baptist and American Lutheran.  Ridgeway and Johnson put on an amazing show to start the evening.  We then went to the Rock where people seemed to have a great time, especially doing karaoke.  There was some real talent on display.  After that, we came back to Willow Hills for the rest of the night.  We had some fun games and a GREAT breakfast in the morning!

We have a movie night coming up this Saturday from 6-8pm in the youth room.  We’ll be watching “Despicable Me.”  As always snacks are provided.  We hope to see you there!

New Year’s Eve Extravaganza!

Ring in the New Year with an amazing night of fun, games, prizes, food and fun.

We’ll start at Mile High Middle School for Living Illusions (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Living-Illusions-Kevin-Ridgeway-and-Kristen-Johnson/50292348713) at 6:30pm.

After the show, transportation will be provided over to the Rock (655 Talwatha, across from Prescott High School) for a pool tournament, movies and food.

We’ll end up at Willow Hills (1071 Mogollon Rd.) by midnight to watch the fireworks and then we’ll have games and prizes all night.

Breakfast will be served in the morning, and we’ll send you on your way by 8:00am.  Cost is $15.  Plan on paying $5 at the door for the illusionist show at Mile High, and the remaining $10 for food and other costs to Justin.

Also, don’t forget the youth Christmas party and cookie baking on December 22nd at the church.

Hope to see you there!

We’re on Facebook

I created a Facebook page for the youth group.  It’s called Willow Hills Youth Group.  In my day they didn’t have social networking.  If you wanted to social network, you used an old fashioned device called a telephone.  I know you young whippersnappers gotta have your Facebook though, so….  :)

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!   Christmas is always a wonderful time of year, as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.  We’ve got a lot of stuff planned over the next few weeks.  On December 11th, we’ll be having our regularly scheduled movie night, but with a holiday twist.  We’ll be watching “Elf.”  If you haven’t seen it, you’re definitely missing out.  It will be from 6-8 in the Youth room and snacks and soda will be provided.

On December 22nd, we’ll be having two activities.  First, we’ll be having a cookie baking party.  We’ll be baking sugar and gingerbread cookies for the church’s post-caroling party.  The time will be announced later.  Next, we’ll be having our Youth Christmas party from 5-7pm in the gym.  We’ll be having games, snacks and a gift exchange.  Please bring a small gift (if you’re buying one, don’t spend more than $5) that will remind the recipient of you, no matter who ends up with it.  Please don’t label the gift as we’ll be doing a white-elephant type exchange.

On December 31st, we’ll be having our annual New Year’s Eve all-nighter.  Details are still being worked out, but there will be fun, games and big prizes!

As always, we want to invite everyone to Sunday morning bible study at 9:30am and either Sunday night from 5-7pm (for Junior High) or Wednesday evening from 6:30-8pm (for High School) for E.N.D.L.E.S.S youth group fun/study.

Until then, remember to eat your four basic food groups:  Candy, Candy Canes, Candy Corn and Syrup.

Back to School and Other Ramblings

We had a great time last night at our Back to School get together.  It was great to see so many new faces and I hope  you all can join us again soon.  I think I have all your names down, which for me, is an incredible feat.  :)   For all of our regulars, thanks for being, well, regular.

We hope to see everyone on Sunday morning.  We’ve started to sing a few worship songs before Bible Study.  Thanks for your help Katy!  Remember that starting August 11th, high schoolers will meet on Wednesday night from 6:30-8:00pm.  Junior Highers will be meeting on Sunday nights from 5:00-7:00pm starting August 15th.   Also, remember to see me if you’re interested in participating in music or drama.  Besides helping us with worship, I will be working on getting some skits and other stuff planned down the road.

Our next event is a movie night on August 14th in the Youth Room at 6:00pm.  We’ll be watching all of the Adventure Now series from camp.  Having seen one of the episodes, i can tell you that you don’t want to miss this.  Soda and Popcorn will be served.

Have a great start to the new school year!

New Pictures

The group got back from M-Fuge youth camp today.  Everyone had a great time and the Lord was really working this week.  I have posted a bunch of photos in the photo gallery.

Update

The youth group is at camp again.  I’m not with them this time, but I hear they’re having a great time.  Three of our girls have asked Jesus into their hearts and one has rededicated her life.  Praise God!  As soon as they get back with pictures, I’ll add them to the photo gallery.  In the meantime, I have finally added photos for two events we’ve had since the end of last year.  There are pictures of the News Years Eve Bash that we had with the First Baptist Prescott youth group and there are a bunch of a night where the group went swimming at the YMCA.

As always, if you’re in the neighborhood, we hope you’ll stop by.  We have Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and Youth group games and study on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:00pm.   We’ll be having an End of Summer bash in the next couple of months, so stay tuned!
